Individual Psychotherapy

You probably have tried to solve difficulties on your own but find patterns that seem impossible to change, or you may be stuck because something you are unaware of is getting in your way.

Psychodynamic therapy, of which Freud’s psychoanalysis was a sub-set, is the oldest of the modern therapies. When you hear the term “talk therapy”, this is generally what is meant. It’s an insight therapy that aims to help you address the psychological roots of difficulties as well as relieve symptoms. This for the purpose of developing the strengths you need to live a healthier life.

Psychodynamic therapy tries to get at the reason you feel or behave the way you do. This is done by uncovering motivations for feelings and behaviors that are often outside of your awareness. You may have patterns that seem impossible to change, or may be stuck because something you are unaware of is getting in your way. Untangling and making visible what may not be readily apparent promotes happiness and success.

  • Psychodymanic Therapy can be profound and rewarding. It offers the possibility of lasting changes in your sense of self, your relationships and your behavior.
  • Therapy can be brief and supportive or relatively long term according your needs and preferences.
  • You and not the therapist set the agenda for sessions and focus on what is on your mind.
  • The focus is on the here-and-now as well as on your personal history.
  • The relationship with your therapist is an integral focus of therapy.
